ABB and Tubular Instrumentation & Controls sign System Integration Supplier Agreement

Integrated analytical solutions for the process industries

Houston, TX, September 25, 2009 – ABB announced the signing of a supply agreement with, Houston-based, Tubular Instrumentation & Controls LP (TIC), under which TIC would undertake the fabrication/assembly of Analytical System Integration solutions for ABB’s US Analytical Products & Systems business. This agreement signifies the next step in ABB’s growing relationship with TIC; the two companies have worked together on numerous successful projects for customers in the process industries over the past several years.

The agreement is a further indication of ABB’s commitment to the Analytical System Integration business (formerly known as ABB Pastech) and is a continuation of more than 50 years of ABB provided process analytical solutions into the North American analytical market. ABB’s analytical product suite represent the most innovative techniques in chromatography, spectroscopy, and continuous gas measurements in the market today, while providing increased safety and maximum return on investment for our client base.

Analytical Systems projects will continue to be managed, engineered and designed by ABB’s experienced project team; TIC will compliment that with fabrication and assembly services to enable ABB to deliver Analytic System Integration projects of the highest quality, on time and on budget. “The combination of ABB’s highly experienced engineering and project management skills and TIC’s experienced system integration skills will allow ABB to deliver sustained high quality and on time deliverables to its customer base,” said John Quirke, ABB’s analytics manager. “This agreement is one of the many steps in the Houston-based ABB Analytical System Integration’s continuing drive to improve our customer-focus and provide solutions and services that exceed our customers’ expectations.” ABB has a rigorous supplier development program and TIC recently passed a full quality and process audit as part of that program. Additionally, TIC has a number of former ABB Pastech employees in their staff to ensure continuity of build quality further reducing risk to ABB and ultimately to ABB’s customers.

The agreement with TIC, in conjunction with ABB’s in-house flagship System Integration facility in Shanghai, has increased ABB’s ability to handle Analytical System Integration projects of all sizes, ranging from single CEMS cabinets to ‘mega-project’ size involving dozens of large shelters for a single project.
